It is that they didn't tell us a new story. That was why people went back to movies to see Star Trek Films even when the last one didn't do so great. They went expecting a bold new world seeking our new life and new civilizations and boldly going where no man has gone before.
Ah Summer Time – Where Are Those Lazy Days?
Do you remember those lazy summer days? Laying by a stream fishing, or maybe just hanging out with friend and doing nothing? No? Me either.
Writing Again
As most of you know getting back to writing has been a rough process for me. I have been struggling with it a lot. So I am very happy that I have managed to write something. Not only did a manage to write something but I was also able to finish it.
I am Sick
Life has kept me more than a little busy. There have been sheep and chickens and children and family life. They have been all been there. Most of that has always been there, and yet, I have managed to write. To say something even it was little more than nothing. But now on top of it all I am sick.
I am a Writer, I am Catholic, But I am Not A Catholic Writer
I don't believe that I will ever be as good a writer as C.S. Lewis, or as famous and rich as J.K. Rowling but I do hope to tell a good story, that is informed by my faith, without alienating those who do not believe as I do.
The Announcement
So it is with a heave heart that I say goodbye to Flying Island Press. The new Managing Editor, Philip Carroll, is a great man and has been a friend of mine for a long time. I know he will do great things with it. I wish him and the rest of the crew the best of luck in the future. I hope that they can continue to take fiction where we all want to go.

Happy Birthday Kiddo! You make me laugh and groan with your jokes at time. You have a great sense of humor, and your heart is almost always in the right place. I wish you all the best on this day and all days. You brighten my days, and am glad to have been your dad for the last 14 years.
