As the second story in this series I was not disappointed. Zachary Ricks crafts a wonderful tale of palace intrigue without ever taking you into the palace proper and weighing the story down with dull court life. Alexander and his band damaged and one member nearly broken after their last adventure have to struggle to just stay alive, now that they have come home to what should have been a heroes welcome
